12/13- Wakie Wakie 4:44
I haven’t shared this before, but it might help someone here.
For the last 1,095 days, I haven’t had a single sip of alcohol.
Not because I was a big drinker—I wasn’t. But one day, staring out the window on a drive back from Columbus, I asked myself:
“Does drinking add to all the amazing things I’ve built—or take away from them?”
The answer changed everything.
4 Thoughts to Kickstart Your Day:
We Tell Ourselves Stories: “I need a drink to relax.” “I need it to connect.” “I need it to celebrate.” All excuses we create to justify actions that might not serve us.
Time is Your Most Valuable Asset: Nursing a hangover doesn’t make the highlight reel of your life. How you spend your hours reflects your priorities.
Small Changes Add Up: Cutting out something small, like alcohol, can lead to big improvements in energy, focus, and overall quality of life.
Control is Power: You have more control than you think. Don’t let habits or stories dictate your life.
4 Lessons Learned:
It’s About What Serves You: The things we let go of aren’t about deprivation—they’re about creating space for what really matters.
You’re Stronger Than You Think: The urge to drink—or whatever your vice might be—is temporary. Ride it out, and you’ll come out stronger.
Celebrate Without the Crutch: You don’t need a glass of something to celebrate. Real connection and joy come from the moment, not what’s in your hand.
Progress is Personal: Your journey is yours. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being better than yesterday.
4 Challenges to Conquer Today:
Question One Habit: Is there something in your life that’s not serving you? Identify it and think about how it’s holding you back.
Rewrite the Story: Catch yourself justifying a habit and flip the script. What would life look like without it?
Replace, Don’t Remove: Swap a vice with something that supports you—a mocktail instead of a drink, or a walk instead of scrolling your phone.
Celebrate One Small Win: Progress is progress. Take one step today toward becoming the best version of yourself.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”
- Aristotle
This isn’t about alcohol, or any one habit—it’s about choices. The small, daily ones that stack up and shape the life we’re living.
I’m sharing this because we all have something we can improve. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about showing up every day trying to be just a little bit better.
So, what’s one thing you’ll work on today to move the needle in your life? Hit reply and let me know—I’d love to hear how you’re making it happen.
Until Tomorrow,
